Intercare Mbombela Medical and Dental Centre, located in Mpumalanga, is looking for a Dental Assistant. This role involves helping dentists and specialists with general and specialized dental work, along with managing patient-related administrative tasks.
CRITICAL OUTPUT
- Keep your skills up-to-date by staying informed about the newest dental practices and working within your skill set.
- Be responsible for your choices, actions, and any mistakes you make while helping patients.
- Keep the dental room clean and follow all rules for sterilizing instruments and preventing infections.
- Help the dentist with all procedures as instructed.
- Manage lab work, including filling out forms, collecting items, sending them to the lab, and handling casts.
- Keep track of supplies and equipment in the dental room and use them carefully.
- Listen to and address any problems to make sure dental care is safe.
- Make sure all records follow the rules and laws.
- Always protect patient privacy, respect, and safety.
- Throw away medical waste, tissue, and medicine as required by law.
- Make sure equipment works well, and report any problems that could be dangerous to patients or staff.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 education.
- Must have finished a dental assisting training program or have similar training and work experience.
- Experience working with customers is a plus.
- Must know how to use computers (MS Office).
- Must understand the rules and ways of general dentistry and how to help a dentist treat patients.
- Must have a strong understanding of dental words.
- Must know the basics of how a dental office works.
- Must know and use good infection control and cleaning methods.
- Must understand dental treatment codes to give prices for complex dental work.
- Must know about special dental work.
- Experience with GoodX is a plus.
- Must be currently registered as a Dental Assistant with the HPCSA.
