Picker and Packer (Warehouse Assistance)

The core purpose of the role is to ensure the effective picking of goods from the picking list against customer orders and packing of goods onto shelves according to company standards.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Picking
- Pick the right items from the shelves based on the order slip.
- Double-check to be sure you’ve picked the correct items.
- Fill out the order slips completely and correctly.
- Write your name, the date, weights, sizes, and sign the slips as needed.
- Point out and tell someone about any problems on the order slip.
- Point out and tell someone about any differences in the amount or color of the items on the order slip.
Packing
- Put items in the right places and bins.
- Wrap products well, following company rules, to keep them safe.
- Send the correct items to the place where they will be shipped.
- Get products ready to be sent out.
- Pack and load products onto trucks the way the company wants.
Warehouse Assistance
- Loading and unloading of products from vehicles / containers.
- Assist with receiving stock.
- Assist with deliveries and collections to and from customers when required.
- Ensuring that all stock is correctly and neatly located, binned, and always displayed.
SHEQ Integrated Management System control
- Follow the rules of the safety law.
- Look after your own health and safety and that of others.
- Work with your boss to help them meet safety duties and rules.
- Do what you are told and follow all safety rules and steps.
- Tell your boss if you see anything unsafe or unhealthy.
- Tell your boss if anything happens that causes harm.
- Follow safety plans.
- Always keep your work area safe, healthy, and clean.
- Keep your work area tidy.
- Always wear the safety gear the company says you need to.
- Always provide great service to customers.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- 1 years’ experience in a similar position.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to do basic numerical calculations.
- A thorough practical knowledge of best practises warehouse operations processes.
- Awareness and understanding of the ISO Standard requirements relevant to the position.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- The ability to carefully and accurately pick and pack items, ensuring correct quantities, product quality, and proper packaging.
- The capability to prioritize tasks, work under deadlines and meet productivity targets while maintaining accuracy
REQUIREMENTS AS AN ADDED BENEFIT
- Experience in the aluminium profiles, -systems and –accessories environment or similar.
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license.
- Valid Forklift license.
