Artisan Foreman For Various Positions

ARTISAN FOREMAN: CTP Ref No: GPW 25/06

STIPEND: R362 130 per annum, (OSD Model)

LOCATION: Pretoria

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a Grade 10 (or similar) education, completed an apprenticeship, and have an Electronic Origination Trade Test Certificate.
  • A Grade 12 education and experience in a factory setting is helpful.
  • Must have at least 5 years of suitable experience after the apprenticeship.
  • Must be able to work different shifts.
  • Must be willing to work longer hours when needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Handle computer to plate (CTP) production.
  • Manage the daily activities of the CTP area to make sure everything runs well.
  • Put quality control rules in place and make sure they are followed, so plates are accurate and high quality.
  • Find and fix any technical problems with the CTP systems, equipment, and software to keep production going smoothly.
  • Supervise the making of plates using CTP, including imaging, processing, and checking plates.
  • Work with the color team to make sure printed materials have correct colors.
  • Check documents to make sure they meet customer needs.
  • Keep good records of CTP production, how well it’s working, and equipment maintenance.
  • Check that documents are correct and good quality.
  • Work with the prepress team to check and get digital files ready for plate production, making sure they meet printing rules.
  • The equipment is good enough to make excellent documents.
  • Keep the CTP machines in good working order with regular upkeep, so they work their best and don’t break down often.
  • Follow all safety rules from OHSA.
  • Help with office tasks and share ideas for making rules and ways of doing things.

ARTISAN FOREMAN – EXAMINATION PACKAGING REF NO: GPW 25/07

SALARY: R362 130 per annum, (OSD Model

LOCATION: Pretoria

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • A Grade 10 certificate or similar, plus a completed training program as a bookbinder and a passing score on the bookbinding trade test.
  • At least 5 years of experience after finishing your bookbinding training.
  • A strong understanding of bookbinding machines and how to ensure good quality.
  • The ability to teach others, share your skills, and work different shifts.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Use packaging and bookbinding machines, like CMC packaging machines, saddle stitchers, and shrink wrappers.
  • Reach the set production goals each day.
  • Make sure security materials are handled safely, following the rules.
  • Make sure all security production materials are high quality.
  • Plan and organize resources on the shop floor to meet the production schedule and daily goals.
  • Help supervise, train, coach, and develop apprentice bookbinders and printer’s assistants.
  • Assign tasks to bookbinders and printer’s assistants.
  • Follow safety rules and the Government Printing Works policies.

ARTISAN FOREMAN DIGITAL PRINTNING LINE REF NO: GPW 25/08

SALARY: R362 130 per annum, (OSD)

CENTRE: Pretoria

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You need a 10th-grade education and a completed apprenticeship in printing, such as lithography or rotary web-offset printing. A passing grade on a printing trade test is also necessary.
  • A 12th-grade education is a plus. You should have at least five years of experience after your apprenticeship. You must know a lot about printing with many colors and the related machines. You should be ready to work different shifts and long hours.

DUTIES:


Your jobs will include running a multicolor digital printing press with finishing options. You’ll assign materials and jobs, and organize production on the shop floor. You’ll also handle the digital printing files before printing. You’ll work to make printing better and keep printed materials high quality. Checking the quality of printed products is important. You will manage and teach other workers. You’ll also do basic upkeep on the printing presses, following the manufacturer’s instructions and maintenance schedule. You must follow safety and quality rules.

ARTISAN (SPECIALISED): DIGITAL PRINTING LINE REF NO: GPW 25/09

SALARY: R341 124 per annum, (OSD)

CENTRE: Pretoria

NEEDED:


-A 10th-grade education and a completed printing apprenticeship.


-A passing grade on a trade test for Lithography, Rotary Web-Fed Offset, or Continuous Stationery.


-A 12th-grade education is helpful.


-Five (5) years of experience after getting certified, using multi-color printing presses.


-Strong technical knowledge of printing, how it works, and the machines used.


-Must be okay with working different shifts or longer hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run digital printing machines that finish products automatically.
  • Get printing presses and finishing lines ready.
  • Help get digital printing files ready before printing.
  • Give expert technical advice and solutions for smooth printing, process design, and better printing products.
  • Improve printing, boost production, and make sure printing quality is consistent.
  • Do basic repairs on machines.
  • Follow the schedule for machine maintenance based on standard procedures and what the manufacturer requires.
  • Do quality checks and make sure everyone follows the proper steps.

ARTISAN (SPECIALISED): LITHOGRAPHY SHEET-FED PRINTING REF NO: GPW 25/10

SALARY : R341 124 per annum, (OSD)

MUST HAVE:

  • High school diploma or similar, plus a completed printing apprenticeship and passing score on the trade test for operating sheet-fed lithography machines; 5 years of experience after getting certified; understanding of computer-controlled printing presses; strong computer skills; focus on quality; good planning and organization abilities; and be able to work different shifts. A higher-level high school diploma is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run a multi-color sheet-fed offset printing machine.
  • Make sure printed materials meet quality standards and customer needs, following all procedures.
  • Give expert technical advice about printing to improve production, process design, and print quality.
  • Do simple maintenance on the equipment.
  • Help train other employees when needed.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures.

ARTISAN (SPECIALISED): ID SMARTCARD PERSONALISATION REF NO: GPW 25/11

SALARY : R341 124.per annum (OSD)

CONDITIONS:

  • You need a Grade 10 or similar education plus a finished apprenticeship. Having a Grade 12 is a plus. You also need five years of experience after getting your qualifications, working with high security items like IDs, travel documents, or similar printing.
  • Experience with ISO certification is also helpful. You must know a lot about printing, how it works, and the equipment used. You should also understand safety, health, environmental, and quality rules (SHERQ). Being willing to work shifts is necessary, and sometimes you might have to work extra hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Your job will be to personalize ID smart cards correctly and well, including setting up the card, putting in data, printing, and encoding.
  • You must finish work on time and make enough of everything. Check the personalized documents to make sure they are good quality.
  • Keep the work moving smoothly and efficiently in your area. Watch how much waste there is and try to keep it low. Make sure everyone in your area follows all the rules about keeping high-security printed items safe.
  • Perform quality checks effectively. Always make sure things are up to quality standards in your area. Watch how materials are handled to keep them safe during the whole production process.
  • Follow all safety, health, environment, risk, and quality (SHERQ) rules and safety laws. You may also have to do some supervisor tasks.

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Familiarity with CMC Packaging equipment is helpful.
