Dis-Chem Pharmacies requires a Merchandiser for their Potchefstroom in the North West Region. You will ensure that basic Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained. Your responsibilities will also lie in providing excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months’ retail experience
- Computer literate – MS Office
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- At least 1 year retail experience
Job Description:
- Refill products as needed to get the most sales.
- Make sure new and retrieved stock is stored and packed in the right place and on time.
- Check that products on shelves are still good to sell.
- Keep all products available on the shelves all the time.
- Regularly rotate stock using the FIFO (first in, first out) method.
- Tell managers about low stock, items that are out of stock, damaged items, and expired items.
- Help count stock and do general stocktaking tasks.
- Follow Dis-Chem’s rules, store design, and layout plans.
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and take them to the right place.
- Keep shelves and products in the store neat and visible, with correct labels and prices.
- Tell managers about any price mistakes.
- Stay updated on current and new products.
- Build, organize, stock, and maintain product displays.
- Keep the store and displays clean daily, and take care of your assigned stock in the storeroom and on the sales floor.
- Help load and unload stock.
- Make sure items without barcodes are clearly marked.
- Help with back shopping tasks.
- Help train new employees.
- Be friendly, helpful, and polite to all customers and give advice.
- Follow up with customer service on all customer questions about out-of-stock items.
Stock List
- Handle all customer questions about stock and fix any problems.
- Always wear the right uniform and name tag.
- Be careful with all products to avoid losing money.
- Follow Dis-Chem rules, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.

- Excellent English skills.
- Well-groomed appearance.
- Able to talk to customers, bosses, and coworkers in a good way.
- Reliable and truthful.
- Good at using time wisely.
Advantageous:
- Bilingual
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry
- Product and category knowledge
- Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking
- Report bad/suspicious behaviour relating to both staff and customers
