Dis-Chem Pharmacies – Security Guard Supervisor

Dis-Chem Pharmacies require a Security Guard Supervisor for their Midrand Headoofice/DC. You will be required to organise and oversee all security operations of the company and command security personnel while implementing policies and procedures of the organisation. Maintain security standards by create and preserve an environment where employees, visitors and property are safe and well- protected

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Must be PSIRA Grade C certified.
  • Must be registered with PSIRA.
  • Must have at least 3 years of work experience in retail settings like shopping centers and storage facilities.

Advantageous:

  • At least 1-year specific previous experience in a supervisory role

Job Specification

  • Keep track of who enters the building, whether by car or on foot, and only let authorized people in. Record and manage this process.
  • Look for and report any signs of damage or illegal entry as soon as they happen, and take appropriate steps to protect Dis-Chem’s property.
  • Be easily seen to discourage crime, prevent stealing, damage, injuries, and other bad actions.
  • Watch over who comes in, check staff, suppliers, and company salespeople, and make sure all doors and windows are locked at the end of the day.
  • Keep all records and logbooks up to date.
  • Void staff purchases and declared items.
  • Watch over and check trash removal to make sure it follows Dis-Chem’s rules.
  • Protect the company’s property from dishonest people or actions, or anything that could cause the company to lose money.
  • Make sure staff are checked and searched regularly every day.
  • Check vehicles carefully throughout the day.
  • Hold meetings with the security team at the start of each shift to talk about what’s happened since the last shift and share information about any security problems.
  • Make sure security tools like cameras and alarms are working right, and tell the boss if they break.
  • Take steps to stop accidents, theft, and other dangers.
  • Tell the boss about anything that seems strange, both by talking and writing a full report as soon as you can.
  • Call the police and other emergency services when needed by law or Dis-Chem rules, and give them reports.
  • When problems happen, keep watching what’s going on and tell the boss about what you see and if things are getting worse.
  • After a crisis, tell the boss, police, or other needed groups (like firefighters if there’s a fire) what happened and what you did, in a written report.
  • Be ready to act fast and the right way during a crisis – stay aware so you’re not surprised.
  • Know the best way to handle different dangerous situations based on standard rules.
  • They protect people’s safety and belongings.
    They carefully record strange events and what happens each day.
    They make sure everyone follows the rules to stop crime before it starts.

Supervision:

  • Oversee all matters of security and safety relating to both personnel and property, including facilities and equipment.
  • Oversee a security workforce or a security installation, such as a monitoring station.
  • Monitor subordinates and perform patrolling and administrative duties.
  • Provide security guards with information on possible problems to look out for and educate them in dealing with these problems.
  • Guide security staff to act appropriately during emergency situations.

Competencies

  • Must have PSIRA knowledge.
  • Should have fire emergency and health and safety training and experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently since it’s the company’s main language.
  • Must be able to think quickly and protect company property until help arrives.
  • Must be motivated and focused on security.
  • Must be trustworthy and honest.
  • Must be able to guide, encourage, and inspire others.
  • Must be self-motivated and focused on security.

Special conditions of employment:

  • Work both indoors and outdoors in all possible weather conditions.
  • Do patrols in rainy, hot or cold weather in dry, wet or humid conditions
  • South African Citizen
  • MIE, clear criminal and credit
  • Driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Must have keen senses of sight, hearing, and smelling.
  • Must be able to lift and move a dead weight of 50kg for a minimum distance of 50 metres
