OPERATIONS MANAGER (COFFEE INDUSTRY)
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R12 000 – R15 000 Gross (Depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff members, including baristas, servers, and kitchen staff.
- Schedule shifts and allocate tasks effectively to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operations.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members to foster a positive work environment and enhance productivity.
Customer Service:
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining quality standards, addressing customer concerns, and resolving complaints promptly.
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements as needed to enhance the overall customer experience.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of coffee beans, supplies, and other items, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock.
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards, cleanliness protocols, and food safety regulations.
- Implement mechanisms to prevent theft.
Sales and Profitability:
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize sales and profitability, such as promotions, upselling techniques, and cost control measures.
- Analyze sales data, identify trends, and adjust strategies to optimize revenue and achieve financial targets.
- Monitor expenses and manage budgets effectively to control costs and improve profitability.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure adherence to recipe standards and customer expectations.
Community Engagement and Marketing:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community, neighbouring businesses, and regular customers.
- Plan and execute marketing initiatives, such as social media campaigns, special events, and loyalty programs, to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
- Represent the coffee shop at community events and participate in networking opportunities to promote brand awareness and foster goodwill.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field (preferred).
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the food and beverage industry, preferably in a coffee shop or café setting.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent customer service skills and a passion for creating memorable experiences for guests.
- Solid understanding of coffee brewing techniques, menu planning, and food safety protocols.
- Proficiency in POS systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Compulsory Requirements:
- Must have Driver’s Licence
- Must have own working car
- Must be able to work weekends
