The ARC- Vegetable, Industrial and Medicinal Plants (ARC-VIMP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Roodeplaat, Pretoria.
Job Description
Research Assistant delivers and supports logistical and administrative research support; they include activities as follows.
Logistical and administrative project management and coordination.
General support and maintenance.
Administration duties.
Safety health and environment.
Personal management and human capacity development.
Job Requirements
Grade 12 with 1 year relevant experience or grade 10 plus 5 years’ relevant experience or 10 years relevant experience in Agronomy.
Relevant experience in cultivation and maintenance of vegetable crops, including land preparations, planting, weeding, harvesting, fertilizer applications and irrigation set-up.
Relevant experience in greenhouse sanitation practices.
Relevant experience in growth media preparations and seedling/plantlet production.
Effective utilization of tools implements and research materials.
Perform soil and water sample, and data collection under supervision.
Knowledge of Organizational Health and Safety regulations
Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite
Competence in driving a tractor will be an added advantage.
Competence in herbicide and pesticide applications will be an added advantage.
