Retail Shop Assistant
Toys R Us and Babies R Us are famous brand names around the world. Often called the “best toy stores in the world,” Toys R Us SA now has over 60 stores. Two are in Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia. Plus, there’s a brand new, fantastic online shop. The company’s main goal is to give all customers, no matter their age, a wonderful selection of products and a great shopping trip, all at good prices. Then we are looking for a Shop Assistant and we would like you to join our team!!

Key Performance Areas
- Give amazing customer service to make customers very happy.
- Pay attention to each customer’s specific shopping needs and always prioritize the customer.
- Make sure customers get fast and helpful service when shopping in the store or calling on the phone.
- Follow all the standard rules for good customer service.
- Figure out what customers need and give advice on products, prices, and warranties.
- Show customers how products work, explain their features, and offer advice.
- Sell products and, most importantly, suggest additional items or services to buy.
- Make sure products have the correct prices and are displayed well.
- Ensure sales promotions happen on time and are planned ahead.
- Follow all rules for product displays, store layouts, and cleanliness.
- Prepare, start, and keep up all sales promotions on time.
- Tell the Store Manager which products are selling quickly or slowly.
- Help with stock takes and counting the items in the store.
- Keep stock losses as low as possible.
- Keep costs down in the areas you are responsible for.
- Increase sales as much as possible in all areas.
- Protect the company’s property in your work area.
Entry Requirement
- A high school diploma is needed.
- You need at least six months of work history in a store.
- You must have your own car or a way to get to work at different times.
General
- To undertake any other relevant duties requested by Senior Management
- To undertake all mandatory and service training as required
- Maintaining the strict confidentiality of all information
- To undertake an appraisal and personal development review regularly
- To take responsibility and accountability for being up to date with current SOP’s
- Co-operating fully in the introduction of any new technology and new methods.
